Broadcast Engineer

Who are we hiring?
The Broadcast Engineer is responsible for the operation and maintenance of broadcast systems and event technology relative to Madison Square Garden. They will work the video control room and connect broadcast equipment along with hardware, software and infrastructure that produces the arena show for games and events. This person will work with other operations, maintenance, engineering, and broadcast staff to ensure that the broadcast video production facilities operate efficiently and reliably. They will advise and consult on the development of AV and Production systems and participate in all operational planning and updating activities of MSG.
What will you do?
- Oversee the operation, training, maintenance, installation, service and repair of broadcast, production and entertainment technology within MSG Arena.
- Operate as lead on-site broadcast engineer for all home games and events at MSG.
- Liaison with MSG Networks and other network trucks and interconnect rooms.
- Collaborates with MSG Technical Operations team to ensure all applicable systems are cross functional enterprise-wide and that MSG Venue Management quality standards are met.
- Manage the implementation and documentation of all projects related to the video control room and connected equipment.
- Troubleshoot, repair and/or replace all broadcast equipment malfunctions and work with other technical departments including IT, MSG Technical Operations and MSG Networks on solutions for connected equipment.
- Communicate with technical support from equipment vendors and serve as Technical resource for other departments and business units as needed.
- Perform regular checks on equipment to ensure functionality.
- Provide training and support to technical and production staff in the GardenVision control room and relative areas.
- Maintain working inventory of all broadcast equipment, spare parts inventory and preventative maintenance schedules and keep at standard levels within budget.
What do you need to succeed?
- 5-7 years of progressive experience in sports venue control room engineering, AV systems management, workflow and development.
- Proven track record of successfully engineering a sports venue in a complex, fast-paced, and diverse environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of Daktronics LED video systems including service and maintenance of screen components, operation of media servers, and use of control systems.
- Working knowledge of Cable/Fiber infrastructure, Broadcast systems infrastructure, network architecture, production workflows, broadcast cameras, broadcast production switchers, enterprise sized video/audio routers, enterprise sized Multiview and tally/umd systems, monitoring and control systems, large intercom systems, enterprise scale KVM, large LED display systems, large venue sound and other video control room equipment.
- Working knowledge of rigging and safety equipment and protocols (to be used for access and maintenance of venue systems and equipment).
- Working knowledge of HVAC, Power and room layouts as it pertains to broadcast/production spaces.
- Mac and Window/PC proficient and experience using Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
- Well organized and detail oriented with an ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality and diplomacy.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends, nights and holidays required.

- The employee is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit and must lift and/or move up to 45 pounds.
- Ability to work at height on interior of building to maintain equipment.
