Sports Nutrition Assistant

Who are we hiring?
The role of the Sports Nutrition Assistant will be to provide and support sports nutrition services for MSG Sports Teams, under the supervision of the Director of Sports Nutrition. Specific focus will be on the minor league teams (Hartford Wolfpack and Westchester Knicks) with the ability to lend support to the professional teams. Primary responsibilities will include menu review and development, oversight of team fueling stations, preparing individual supplements, assist with developing and refining of nutrition education initiatives, team presentations and special projects. In addition to assisting with the daily nutrition operations for all teams, the Sports Nutrition Assistant will coordinate and implement individual and team nutrition services for the respective NHL and NBA development teams and athletes.
What will you do?
- Assist in coordinating and development of education initiatives and materials utilizing a variety of platforms, including grocery store tours, cooking demonstrations, print and electronic materials for use with all teams
- Coordinate and Execute nutrition testing procedures, protocols, education material and activities for development teams and athletes. Including but not limited to, developing appropriate meal plans, hydration protocols, injury prevention and recovery, and other performance enhancing nutrition strategies.
- Monitor and Manage Fueling Station usage and supplies and implementation of education for optimal use of station and nutrition products.
- Assist with menu review, development and logistics for team meals (includes meals on the road, on the plane, at home and training center). Coordinate with team chefs/food staff regarding menu requirements, food allergy/intolerance needs and education.
- Assist with supplement review, monitoring and ordering
- Assist with testing procedures and review of data (including but not limited to: sweat testing, body composition, labs and other related nutrition interventions)
- Stay current in latest research, developments in sports nutrition products, testing and implementation.
What do you need to succeed?
- RD (Registered Dietitian) required, CSSD (Certified Specialty in Sports Dietetics) preferred or acquired within 2 years
- MS in Nutrition, Exercise Science and/or Culinary Nutrition background is preferred
- Previous experience working in athletic environment and/or nutrition education and counseling with athletes (2-3 years' experience preferred)
- Ability to operate in highest professional standard and uphold core values of MSG Sports
- Ability to work independently and collaborate as a member of a team
- Excellent time-management and organizational skills
Special Requirements
- Travel required to support teams training in various locations, such as Hartford Wolfpack and occasional game day support. Team travel only as needed and if requested by team management and Director of Sports Nutrition.
- Physical lifting and moving items required at times.
