Westchester was one of 17 NBA G League to participate in the 2020-21 NBA G League Draft

WHITE PLAINS, NY – January 11, 2021 – The Westchester Knicks, the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, selected Justin Patton ninth overall in the 2020-21 NBA G League Draft this afternoon.

Patton, 6’11 241, arrives to Westchester by the way of the Wisconsin Herd. In seven games with the Herd, Patton averaged 12 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.4 blocks per game. Patton inked a training camp deal via its NBA affiliate, the Milwaukee Bucks, but waived thereafter.

After being named BIG EAST Freshman of the Year and being selected to the All-BIG EAST Second Team, Patton, declared for the 2017 NBA Draft at the conclusion of his lone season at Creighton. Drafted 16th overall by the Chicago Bulls, Patton would be traded subsequently to the Minnesota Timberwolves. A considerable majority of his rookie season was spent with Minnesota’s G League affiliate, the Iowa Wolves. Patton has also been added to rosters by the likes of the Philadelphia 76ers, Oklahoma City Thunder and Dallas Mavericks. Patton’s G League experience also includes the Oklahoma City Blue.

Patton is a native of Riverdale, GA.

Westchester reserves Patton’s rights due to Wisconsin’s nonattendance in this upcoming G League single site condensed season.

Due to a 10-player roster capacity, Westchester eschewed its round two and round three selections.

The 17 NBA G League teams who will play in Orlando beginning next month were eligible to select in the three-round Draft.
